The DeKalb County Veterans Memorial at Brook Run Park was dedicated by the Chief Executive Officer of DeKalb County, The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners and the DeKalb Veterans Advisory Board on Memorial Day, May 31, 2004.

As part of the development of this lasting tribute to veterans in DeKalb and across the nation, the public is cordially invited to purchase a commemorative brick that will be permanently placed on site at the Brook Run Park. The bricks may be personalized with a special message memorializing a fallen soldier or soldier missing in action; honoring current or past members of our armed forces as well as memoralizing persons or groups who have extended themselves meritoriously for the community.

The DeKalb County Veterans Advisory Board advises and consults with DeKalb County government on issues of importance to the veterans of the United States military residing in DeKalb County. The Board helps ensure that county government remains responsive to the needs of veterans and ensures that local veterans are honored appropriately.

The Board assists in the promulgation of news, services and programs of interest to veterans. It is responsible for the planning, organizing and conducting of county ceremonies that commemorate and recognize those who served our country in the armed forces.

The Advisory Board is made up of 15 members who represent all geographic areas of DeKalb County. Members serve staggered one-year terms. Voting members of the Board must be veterans as defined by the laws of the State of Georgia.
