| The office of the tax commissioner is established by the constitution
of the state of Georgia and exists to provide services to the following constituencies |
|
|
| |
|
- To the citizens of DeKalb County through the support of the school system, county government and local municipalities by providing effective tax collections management, information, or trends analysis and efficiency in the safeguarding of cash and other assets, all in a cost effective manner;
- To the individual property owners in DeKalb through high quality service in awarding and processing exemptions, registering vehicles and the handling of all tax matters with professionalism, fairness and consistency in the application of tax laws;
- To the business and professional community through fostering a positive climate by equitable and consistent administration of collection policies and by assisting businesses with their unique tax situations;
- To civic groups, citizen committees and the general populace through supplying speakers, information, statistics, and otherwise making property tax functions in DeKalb County understandable; and
- To the state legislature and local governing bodies through providing information, serving on committees or study commissions and by assisting elected officials with constituent inquiries.
