Judge Mark Anthony Scott was elected as a Superior Court Judge in the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit in August, 2004. Judge Scott presides over civil, domestic relations, and criminal felony matters.
Judge Scott graduated from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. in 1984. Prior to being elected as a Superior Court Judge, Judge Scott’s primary legal concentration focused on criminal defense work throughout the United States. He serves on the faculty of Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Judge Scott is a Board Member of the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council. The mission of the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council is to ensure, independently of political considerations or private interests, that each client whose cause has been entrusted to a circuit public defender receives zealous, adequate, effective, timely, and ethical legal representation.
Judge Scott is also the Past President and Board Member of the DeKalb Bar Association, where his passion for the law serves as a voice for the DeKalb County legal community.
During Law school, Judge Scott became a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. Fraternity. He excelled in his Fraternal Life having reached the position of a Province Polemarch in only 7 years after initiation. He is the 2007 recipient of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Elder Watson Diggs Award.
