Property Nomination Review Process |

DeKalb County pursues the acquisition of properties to protect greenspace
and expand the county's system. Since the inception of the parks Bond Program
and the Community Greenspace Program, over 900 properties have been nominated by
the general public for acquisition/protection consideration.
Nominated properties are being assessed and categorized in accordance with
the criteria outlined in the Property Nomination Review Process, detailed below.
Properties determined to be eligible for Community Greenspace funds are further assessed
with regard to the natural resources located on each site based on criteria established
by the Initiative for a Green DeKalb Advisory Council. Most generally, the county seeks to:
Establish Parks

Located adjacent to an existing park
Satisfying requirements to provide needed facilities in a areas
under served by Community Parks,Neighborhood Parks and Recreational Facilities
Supporting school/park partnerships
Providing optimal location and site conditions
And to establish Greenspace that
Protects important natural resources as a nature preserve or greenspace
Provides greenway connection between parks, schools, and other public areas
Protects significant historic/archaeological resource
